KIM 01 Introductory Tasks¶
Welcome to the introductory session on Generative AI! During this session, you will explore your current understanding, identify knowledge gaps, and set goals for what you want to create using generative AI tools.
Task 1: Icebreaker Brainstorm¶
- Think about the question: "What comes to mind when you think of generative AI?"
- Share your thoughts with the whole group (one word or short phrases are fine).
Task 2: Create Your Mindmap¶
- Create a mindmap (in FELIX with draw.io). Your mindmap should have three main branches:
- What I already know about generative AI
- Examples: tools, applications, or concepts you’re familiar with.
- What I don’t know but want to learn
- Examples: questions or topics you’re curious about (e.g., how AI works, ethical concerns, energy consumption, advanced tools).
- What I want to create using generative AI tools
- Examples: art, code, essays, music, etc.
Tips for Your Mindmap:¶
- Be creative! Use short phrases, keywords, or even small drawings.
- Add sub-branches for specific ideas or examples. Connect the sub-branches also to other main branches if they are related.
- If you’re unsure about something, write it down anyway!
Task 3: Group Sharing and Discussion¶
- Get together in small groups of three.
- Share your mindmap with your group members.
- Discuss:
- What ideas or knowledge do you have in common?
- What surprised you about others' mindmaps?
- What questions do you all have about generative AI?
Task 4: Class Debrief¶
- Your group will share the key insights or questions from your discussion with the entire class.
- Be prepared to briefly explain your mindmap if asked.
Task 5: Refinement¶
- Refine your mindmap during the break and/or at home. Turn it into a digital version and hand it in via FELIX until the deadline.
Homework¶
- Review the mindmaps of your classmates inf FELIX and reflect on the diversity of knowledge and interests in the class. Consider how your own goals for using generative AI might evolve based on what you learn from others.
Goals of the Activity¶
By completing these tasks, you will:
- Understand what you already know about generative AI.
- Identify and share what you want to learn and explore further.
- Set initial goals for creative projects using generative AI tools.
